49ers’ Renardo Green Issues Strong First Comments
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers selected Florida State cornerback Renardo Green in the second round of the NFL Draft on Friday night, and upon being drafted, Green made some bold comments.

“I process everything fast because I have a lot more knowledge than most people,” Green said, via David Lombardi of The Athletic.

As good as the 49ers’ defense is, they entered the draft in need of some help in their secondary. Charvarius Ward is a Pro Bowl cornerback, but San Francisco still needed some depth at the position and in its defensive backfield in general.

Green is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he registered 43 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, a half of a sack, an interception and a hefty 13 passes defended.

The 23-year-old arrived at Florida State in 2019 and had a rather minimal role over his first three years with the Seminoles.

However, in 2022, Green’s role expanded considerably, as he racked up 58 tackles, three tackles for loss and five passes defended that season.

Green can play multiple positions in the secondary, so his versatility should certainly be beneficial for the Niners in 2024 and beyond.

The 49ers won 12 games and captured the NFC West division title this past season. They then made it all the way to the Super Bowl, where they ultimately fell to the Kansas City Chiefs.

It marked the second time San Francisco had lost to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl in five years.

We’ll see if Renardo Green can help the Niners finally get over the hump in 2024.
