Tom Brady takes a cheeky jibe at ex-Jaguars RB Fred Taylor by dismissing the franchise’s status as a serious contender

If you were asked to name the top 10 most successful NFL franchises in league history, the teams that would roll right off your tongue would be the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, the Green Bay Packers, or the Dallas Cowboys. These are teams that have historically played well and have found ways to go back to the Super Bowl and win it on multiple occasions. The one team that the majority of the fans would not consider a top-10 team in the league is the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Tom Brady, former QB of the New England Patriots and a seven-time Super Bowl-winning champion, concurs with that take. On his recent appearance on The Pivot podcast with Fred Taylor, Channing Crowder , and Ryan Clark, while speaking on a range of topics, one of which was the secret to the success of the Patriots dynasty, he could not resist from taking a jibe at the Jacksonville Jaguars and Fred Taylor.

Brady was speaking on his expressing his personality through the different phases of his career as he went from the Michigan Wolverines to the Patriots.

Coach Belichick was 'the team, the team, the team' and that was 28 years where it really wasn't my voice, it was the team's voice and I felt like as the leader of the team, this is how we should do it...In a lot of ways I like that, I thought we always did a good job of doing our best to keep the distractions at a minimum. You know when you have different factions within a team, whether positive or negative, I don't ever think like that's the clearest path to success...it's very challenging to go beat the Steelers, to beat the Dolphins. Not Jacksonville as much... Tom Brady said

The quarterback immediately burst into laughter, looking at Fred Taylor’s face as the former running back played the majority of his career as a Jaguar.

Tom Brady was pulling Fred Taylor’s leg with his comments on the Jacksonville Jaguars

Ryan Clark and Channing Crowder played the majority of their career for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Miami Dolphins, respectively, two organizations that were considered to be physical and the most competitive. Teams were expected to bring their A-game while facing off against them. However, that was not the case with the Jacksonville Jaguars, as the franchise has continued to struggle in all of its existence.

To date, the team is yet to make a Super Bowl appearance. The farthest the team has gone is the AFC Championship in the years, 1996, 1999, and 2017. Unfortunately, for Fred Taylor, he never made the Super Bowl in his career, despite reaching the playoffs on five separate occasions throughout his career. After his comments on the Jaguars, Brady was quick to do damage control,

I'm just kidding, I'm just kidding, you know I love you...believe me I loved playing with you! Tom Brady added

Taylor played his final two years in the NFL on the Patriots, along with Brady. The running back did not take offense to his joke and laughed along with him.

It was an interesting episode and one wherein the greatest QB of all time, who is often misunderstood as a stickler for rules and a disciplinarian, let loose. Brady was open and allowed his real self to shine throughout.
