Team Canada announced Tuesday its 30-player selection camp roster for the 2024 World Juniors. The Chicago Blackhawks have one representative as prospect Paul Ludwinski made the preliminary group.

“We are excited to name the 30 players who will embark on the journey through camp and eventually on to the World Juniors,” said senior vice-president of high performance and hockey operations Peter Anholt. “Canada has an incredible talent pool of players, and there are always difficult decisions to narrow it down."

Ludwinski was a second-round pick (No. 39 overall) of the Blackhawks in the 2022 NHL Draft. The 5-foot-11 forward, who signed an entry-level deal with Chicago on March 25, is amid his third OHL season with the Kingston Frontenacs. Ludwinski, who serves as Kingston's captain, has 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists) in 23 games so far this season.

The Toronto native will have stiff competition at Canada's selection camp as 16 forwards made the preliminary roster.

"We are expecting a highly competitive camp, and we look forward to naming our final roster that will wear the Maple Leaf with pride starting on Boxing Day,” Anholt added.

Ludwinski and his countrymen will compete in Canada's 2024 World Juniors selection camp from Dec. 10-13 in Oakville, Ontario. The event includes practices and two games against a team of U SPORTS all-stars.

2024 World Juniors

Ludwinski is one of several Blackhawks prospects vying to compete at the 2024 World Juniors. Chicago has four prospects on Team USA's preliminary roster and two more among Team Slovakia's initial group.

The 2024 World Juniors will take place in Gothenburg, Sweden from Dec. 26, 2023 - Jan. 5, 2024.
