Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli sees Atalanta star Teun Koopmeiners as a must-have acquisition ahead of the summer transfer window. Per Calciomercato, the player’s agents will soon set foot in Italy to discuss the Dutchman’s potential switch to the Allianz Stadium.

Koopmeiners’ has a crystal clear vision of his future. He’s eager to end a three-year association with Atalanta at the end of the season, preferably after helping the club lift the Europa League trophy. The 26-year-old entertains the idea of teaming up with Juventus a year before his contract in Bergamo expires.

While working on buying Charles De Ketelaere permanently, Atalanta could reluctantly open talks with Juventus over the Netherlands international’s move to Turin. Koopmeiners’ transfer might pour around €50 million into the club’s bank accounts. However, Giuntoli has pieced together a plan to drive the price down.

Aware of Atalanta’s interest in Matias Soule and Dean Huijsen, Juventus are reportedly ready to offer both youngsters as a makeweight in a deal. On top of that, they’d be glad to triple Koopmeiners’ salary to convince the player to choose them over other interested parties. The player currently earns around €1.5m net per season at Atalanta.

Juventus have the upper hand

Koopmeiners has become an established Serie A star since swapping AZ Alkmaar for Atalanta in 2021. Therefore, he’d prefer Juventus over foreign suitors. With Arne Slot set to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, rumors of the Dutch midfielder’s potential move to Anfield have intensified. But the player’s ambition is to stay in Italy, handing Bianconeri a firm upper hand.
